On The List: Black History Month

On The List

Every week Valley Doll picks the top releases of the week. This week we are highlighting some of our favorite Black artists in honor of Black History Month.

I’ve been loving Chloe Halle since ‘Happy Without Me’ ft Joey Bada$$. The iconic duo is set for even more success, not to mention being signed to Beyonce’s label they have a perfect balance of power and poise and their voices sound like butter together.

DRAM is now known as Shelley FKA DRAM and has a new release under his new moniker - ‘Exposure.’ This new track will make you want to take off your clothes and fall in love. Effortlessly performed with emotion that makes you feel like he’s honestly talking to you.

Cautious Clay is back with a new track ‘Roots’ - the past few years he’s pretty much collaborated with every top pop hit maker from Taylor to Billie. I’m holding off making the pun that he’s going back to his….but his new track ‘Roots’ is a silky bop that will make you nostalgic of difficult relationships in a way I didn’t realize was possible.

Los Angeles singer and songwriter India Shawn has been making her mark in the music scene for over 10 years. Her new track ‘Too Sweet’ ft Unknown Mortal Orchestra, feels like a hit making next step. The sultry and chill new track leaves me feeling optimistic which might be exactly what we all need as we approach a year into the pandemic.

I just discovered Rema and now all I want to do is dance. Rema is a Nigerian singer/songwriter and raper - his music defies genre and is pure fun. Discovered by a lot of people when Barack Obama put him on his 2019 Summer Playlist - 19 year old Rema is bound to absolutely blow up. Get your booty bouncin’ to this hot new track.
